이 유전자는 염색체 11p14.1에 위치하며, 심장의 활동전위 재분극 단계 조절에 중요한 역할을 하는 A-type potassium current class에 속합니다.
KCNA4는 심장의 일시적 외향성 칼륨 전류(Ito1)에 기여하며, 이는 심장 활동전위의 1단계 재분극에 주요한 역할을 합니다.
또한 DLG4, KCNA2, DLG1 단백질과 상호작용하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
