Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 are associated with various cancers. Upon DNA damage, CHK2 phosphorylates modulators of cell cycle control, including tumor suppressor proteins such as BRCA1. This phosphorylation facilitates BRCA1-mediated DNA damage response and cell survival. CHK2 functions as a putative tumor suppressor, and mutations are linked to Li-Fraumeni syndrome, sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
