Target Information
Mammaglobin is expressed almost exclusively in normal breast epithelium and human breast cancer. It belongs to the secretoglobin gene family and forms a heterodimer with lipophilin B. Mammaglobin is considered a useful marker for breast cancer research. RT-PCR studies detecting mRNA from circulating carcinoma cells in breast cancer patients show that mammaglobin is highly specific and correlates with prognostic factors such as lymph node involvement.
