MA5-15682 targets SMAD4 in indirect ELISA, FACS, IF, IHC, and WB applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human SMAD4 expressed in E. coli.
MA5-15682 detects SMAD4, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 65 kDa.


Target Information

Smad4 is encoded by the SMAD4 gene located on chromosome 18 in humans. It is also known as Smad family member 4, Sma- and Mad-related protein 4, or Mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 4.
Smad4 contains N-terminal MH1 and C-terminal MH2 globular domains involved in DNA binding and protein interactions. Upon activation by TGF-β or BMP ligands, receptor Smads (R-Smads) are phosphorylated and form complexes with Smad4 (co-Smad), which translocate to the nucleus to regulate gene expression.
Smad4 functions as a tumor suppressor by modulating transcription of genes such as Cyclin D1 (downregulation) and collagen (upregulation), affecting cell proliferation. Dephosphorylation controls nuclear export and nucleocytoplasmic dynamics of Smads.
