The B-T21 antibody reacts with the p35 subunit of human interleukin-12 (IL-12).
IL-12 is a 70 kDa heterodimeric cytokine composed of two covalently linked chains, p40 and p35, and is secreted primarily by activated B cells.
For optimal detection of human IL-12 p70 by ELISA, a combination of purified B-T21 antibody for capture and biotinylated C8.6 antibody for detection is recommended.

Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine belonging to the Interleukin-6 protein superfamily.
It is the 35-kD alpha chain of the heterodimeric cytokine IL-12 and has diverse biological functions, including:

• Acting as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells
• Enhancing NK/lymphokine-activated killer cell activity
• Stimulating IFN-gamma production by PBMC and T-cell-independent induction
• Supporting differentiation of Th1 and Th2 cells
• Regulating tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat4 protein
• Involvement in innate immunity via nitric oxide synthase 2A
• Forming IL-35 heterodimer with EBI3, essential for T reg cell suppressive activity
