Target Information
GOLPH1 (also known as GCP60) is a Golgi protein that interacts with the integral membrane protein giantin and contributes to maintaining Golgi structure. It also interacts with Golgin-160, which can be cleaved by caspases-2, -3, and -7, leading to nuclear localization of Golgin-160 fragments. The interaction between GOLPH1 and cleaved Golgin-160 fragments is regulated by the oxidation state of Cys-463 within GOLPH1. Additionally, GOLPH1 interacts with Numb, a cytosolic signaling protein involved in asymmetric cell division of neural progenitor cells, suggesting that Golgi fragmentation and reconstitution during the cell cycle may regulate Numb signaling and link cell fate with cell cycle progression.
