Prolactin (PRL)은 젖 분비 자극, 염분 및 수분 조절, 성장, 발달, 생식 등에 관여하는 뇌하수체 호르몬입니다. PRL은 막관통 PRL 수용체에 결합하여 신호 전달 경로를 통해 다양한 세포 유형에 영향을 미칩니다. PRLR은 사이토카인 수용체 패밀리에 속하며, 조직 및 종에 따라 약 40–100 kDa 크기의 다양한 형태(짧은형, 긴형)를 가집니다. PRLR은 prolactin 결합 부위를 포함한 5개의 시스테인을 가진 세포 외 영역, 단일 막관통 도메인, 그리고 리간드 결합 및 세포 기능 조절에 관여하는 세포질 영역으로 구성되어 있습니다.
