Target Information
ZFPM1 is a transcription regulator that plays an essential role in erythroid and megakaryocytic cell differentiation. ZFPM1 acts as a cofactor forming heterodimers with GATA family transcription factors (GATA1, GATA2, GATA3), which can either activate or repress transcription depending on the cellular context. The heterodimer is required for activation of genes such as NFE2, ITGA2B, and globin genes, while repressing KLF1 expression. ZFPM1 may also be involved in gonadal gene regulation and cardiac development alongside ZFPM2/FOG2.
