Target Information
Biotinidase functions to recycle biotin by cleaving biocytin (biotin-epsilon-lysine), a normal product of carboxylase degradation, regenerating free biotin. It also exhibits biotinyl-transferase activity. Defects in the biotinidase gene cause multiple carboxylase deficiency.
