Target Information

Translational regulator that ensures constant high levels of translation under various stress conditions such as amino acid starvation, UV-C irradiation, proteasome inhibitor treatment, and glucose deprivation. Acts as a negative regulator of EIF2AK4/GCN2 kinase activity by impairing GCN1-mediated activation, thus reducing eIF-2-alpha phosphorylation and down-regulation of protein synthesis. May regulate translation in specific neuronal cells under amino acid starvation by preventing GCN2 activation and ATF4 synthesis. Through inhibition of EIF2AK4/GCN2, it contributes to neuronal cell differentiation and neurite outgrowth.
