Target Information
The HOXD10 gene belongs to the Abd-B homeobox family and encodes a protein with a homeobox DNA-binding domain. It is part of the homeobox D gene cluster on chromosome 2. The encoded nuclear protein acts as a sequence-specific transcription factor expressed in developing limb buds, playing a role in differentiation and limb development.
Mutations in this gene have been associated with Wilms' tumor and congenital vertical talus, as well as foot deformities resembling those seen in Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
