Target Information
Ran is a small signaling GTPase involved in nucleocytoplasmic transport. Additional functions include spindle aster formation and nuclear envelope reassembly during mitosis. Unlike Ras or Rho, Ran is not membrane-associated. RanGAP and RCC1 regulate local RanGTP/RanGDP concentrations. Mammalian RanGAP binds to the nuclear pore via SUMOylation and interaction with nucleoporin Nup358.
