EFHA1는 미토콘드리아 칼슘 유입 통로(MCU)의 주요 조절 인자로, 세포질 칼슘 농도가 낮을 때 MCU를 제한하는 역할을 합니다.
MICU1과 MICU2는 이황화 결합된 헤테로다이머를 형성하여 칼슘 농도에 따라 MCU 활성을 자극하거나 억제합니다.
MICU2는 EF-hand 도메인을 통해 칼슘 수준을 감지하여 안정 상태에서 채널 개방을 방지함으로써 에너지 소모 및 세포사 유발을 방지합니다.
