Target Information
ELAC2 encodes a protein with a C-terminal domain possessing tRNA 3′ processing endoribonuclease activity, responsible for removing the 3′ trailer from precursor tRNAs.
It interacts with activated Smad2 and its nuclear partner forkhead box H1 (FAST-1). Reduced expression can suppress TGF-β–induced growth arrest.
Mutations in ELAC2 are associated with increased risk of prostate cancer. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
