Target Information
Synapse-Associated Protein 102 (SAP102) is a plasma membrane-associated protein found in synaptic junctions. It contains three PDZ domains, an SH3 domain, and a guanylate kinase (GuK) domain.
PDZ-domain interactions are believed to play a role in receptor and channel clustering, contributing to neuronal plasticity. SAP102 is associated with NMDA receptors and shaker-type potassium channels at the synaptic membrane in CNS neurons.
Proteins sharing the T/SXV C-terminal motif (e.g., β1 adrenergic receptor, serotonin receptors, sodium and potassium channel subunits) may interact with SAP102 via PDZ domains.
Neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS), although lacking the T/SXV motif, can associate with SAP102 through PDZ–PDZ interactions.
