Target Information
Alkaline phosphatase (ALPL) is a homodimeric enzyme (~86 kDa) containing two zinc atoms per monomer, essential for catalytic activity. It functions optimally at alkaline pH and is found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. ALP is involved in liver metabolism and skeletal development, serving as a source of inorganic phosphate in bacteria and as a model for studying membrane protein sorting in yeast.
