Target Information
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter that increases Cl⁻ conductance, inhibiting neuronal firing in the central nervous system. It activates ionotropic (GABAA) and metabotropic (GABAB) receptors, as well as GABAC receptors. GABARAP (GABAA receptor-associated protein) links GABAA receptors to the cytoskeleton and may play a role in receptor transport and cytoskeletal interactions. Belonging to the MAP1 or ATG8-like family, GABARAP is implicated in autophagy regulation through interaction with MAPK15/ERK8.
