Target Information
Histone H3 is a DNA-binding protein found in the chromatin of all eukaryotic cells. Together with four core histone proteins, it forms the nucleosome structure. Histones are essential in transcription regulation, DNA repair, replication, and chromosomal stability.
Post-translational modifications of histones, such as methylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation, influence chromatin structure and transcription factor binding. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 undergoes various modifications affecting cellular processes.
