XIAP (X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein) is a key regulator of apoptosis inhibition.
ATP synthase is extremely conserved through evolution and found across plants, fungi, bacteria, and animals.
It functions as a transmembrane enzyme driving the reversible reaction from ADP + phosphate to ATP, utilizing proton flux across membranes.
The enzyme consists of two main sections:
- F1 ATP-ase (soluble): alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon subunits
- F0 ATP-ase (membrane embedded): a, b, c subunits
