Target Information
The Wilms Tumor 1 (WT1) gene encodes one of the WPP domain–interacting proteins required for RanGAP nuclear envelope association in root tip cells. Ran GTPase plays essential roles in nucleocytoplasmic transport, spindle formation, and nuclear envelope reassembly. RanGAP is critical for establishing a functional RanGTP/RanGDP gradient and is associated with the outer nuclear envelope surface. In Arabidopsis thaliana, RanGAP association requires nucleoporins combining coiled-coil and transmembrane domains (CC-TMD) and WPP domain–interacting proteins (WIPs). WT1 and WIT2 are CC-TMD proteins distinct from WIPs, essential for RanGAP nuclear envelope association in root tip cells.
