Target Information
HLA-DMB (major histocompatibility complex, class II, DM beta), also known as D6S221E, RING7, or HLADMB, is a protein encoded by the HLA-DMB gene located on chromosome 6p21.32.
This molecule forms a heterodimer with the alpha chain (DMA), both anchored in the membrane and located in intracellular vesicles.
DM plays a central role in peptide loading of MHC class II molecules by facilitating the release of CLIP (class II-associated invariant chain peptide) from the peptide-binding site. Class II molecules are expressed in antigen-presenting cells.
The beta chain is approximately 26–28 kDa and encoded by six exons. HLA-DMA and HLA-DMB encode subunits of a functional heterodimer critical for class II antigen presentation.
HLA and MHC antibodies are important tools in Immunopeptidomics, enabling the identification and characterization of neoantigens through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
