Target Information

The RAD23B protein is one of two human homologs of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Rad23, involved in nucleotide excision repair (NER). It complements the NER defect in xeroderma pigmentosum group C (XP-C) cell extracts and interacts with 3-methyladenine-DNA glycosylase (MPG), suggesting a role in DNA damage recognition during base excision repair. It contains an N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain that interacts with the 26S proteasome, indicating involvement in ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis.
