Target Information

SRC is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase and proto-oncogene involved in the regulation of embryonic development and cell growth.
It regulates growth and differentiation of eukaryotic cells, associates with cell surface receptors for signal transduction, and participates in cytoskeletal organization, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis.
In humans, SRC is located on chromosome 20.
Activity is regulated by phosphorylation at Tyr416 (activation) and Tyr527 (inhibition).
Mutations in SRC may contribute to malignant progression of colon cancer.
Two transcript variants encoding the same SRC protein have been identified.
