Target Information
PACS-1 (CRA_a) is a 963 amino acid regulatory protein involved in protein trafficking and belongs to the PACS family. It controls the correct subcellular localization of trans-Golgi network (TGN) membrane proteins containing acidic cluster sorting motifs.
PACS-1 participates in HIV-1 Nef-mediated removal of MHC-I from the cell surface to the TGN, aiding immune evasion. It also regulates endosome-to-Golgi trafficking of furin and mannose-6-phosphate receptors by linking their acidic cluster domains with AP-1 adapter complexes in clathrin-coated pits.
Typically localized to the Golgi apparatus and paranuclear region, PACS-1 is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
