Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for various diseases. The KLK8 gene, part of the kallikrein subfamily located on chromosome 19, may participate in proteolytic cascades in skin and act as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
