Target Information
The PRC1 gene encodes a protein involved in cytokinesis. The protein is highly expressed during the S and G2/M phases of mitosis and decreases significantly when cells enter the G1 phase. It localizes to the nucleus during interphase, associates dynamically with mitotic spindles during mitosis, and is found at the cell mid-body during cytokinesis. This protein is a substrate of several cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and is essential for polarizing microtubules and organizing contractile ring assembly.
