Product Specific Information
- In Western blot applications, this antibody detects a band at approximately 67 kDa.
- Suggested positive control: K562 cell lysate.
- PA5-19947 can be used with blocking peptide PEP-0072.
Target Information
Apoptosis Inducing Factor (AIF) is involved in chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation during apoptosis.
AIF localizes in mitochondria and translocates to the nucleus upon apoptotic stimulation, inducing the release of cytochrome c and caspase-9.
It is highly conserved between human and mouse and widely expressed.
Mutations in the AIF gene cause combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 6, leading to severe mitochondrial encephalomyopathy.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, and a related pseudogene exists on chromosome 10.
