This antibody recognizes normal p21, activated p21, and p21 from each of the Harvey, Kirsten, and N-ras families.
Target Information
The Ras gene family encodes proteins involved in signal transduction pathways. These proteins bind GTP and GDP and have intrinsic GTPase activity. They undergo cycles of de- and re-palmitoylation, regulating their localization between the plasma membrane and Golgi apparatus. Mutations in this gene are associated with Costello syndrome, characterized by abnormal growth, tumor predisposition, and various developmental abnormalities. Defects in Ras genes are implicated in several cancers, including bladder cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, and oral squamous cell carcinoma. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
