Product Specific Information
This antibody specifically recognizes an epitope encoded by exon v3 on the variant portion of human CD44.
Standard CD44 (CD44s) lacks the entire variable region and is found mainly in lymphohematopoietic cells.
Multiple isoforms (CD44v1–CD44v11) arise from alternative splicing within the extracellular domain.
Applications Tested: Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin), Western Blotting.
Target Information
CD44 cell surface antigen is a 100 kDa glycoprotein expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and some epithelial tissues (intestine, breast).
Several isoforms exist, including CD44H, the predominant form in normal tissues.
CD44 acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA), mediating cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration.
It also participates in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing.
CD44 expression may increase in certain carcinomas and is associated with metastatic potential.
