ADAMTS13는 ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif) 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다.
이 패밀리의 구성원들은 프로펩타이드 영역, 메탈로프로테이나아제 도메인, 디스인테그린 유사 도메인, 그리고 thrombospondin type 1 (TS) 모티프를 포함하는 여러 단백질 모듈을 공유합니다.
각 구성원은 C-말단 TS 모티프의 수나 고유한 C-말단 도메인에서 차이를 보입니다.
ADAMTS13 효소는 von Willebrand Factor (vWF)를 Tyr842-Met843 부위에서 절단하는 프로테아제로, 이 효소의 결핍은 혈전성 혈소판감소성 자반증(thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura)과 관련이 있습니다.
