Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits include four RNA species and about 80 distinct proteins.
The RPL13A gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L13P family. It is located in the cytoplasm and has transcript variants utilizing alternative polyA signals.
This gene is co-transcribed with small nucleolar RNA genes U32, U33, U34, and U35, located in its second, fourth, fifth, and sixth introns, respectively. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome, as is typical for ribosomal protein genes.
