Target Information

CaV3.3 encodes the pore-forming alpha subunit of a voltage-gated calcium channel. It belongs to the T-type, low voltage-activated calcium channels, characterized by slower activation and inactivation compared to other T-type channels.
CaV3.3 is implicated in neuronal calcium signaling, and alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants. Voltage-gated calcium channels (CaV) mediate calcium influx in response to depolarization and regulate intracellular processes such as contraction, secretion, neurotransmission, and gene expression.
Diseases associated with CACNA1I include Childhood Absence Epilepsy.
