Target Information
GRP94 is an 803 amino acid protein belonging to the heat shock protein 90 family. It acts as a molecular chaperone involved in the processing and transport of secreted proteins. GRP94 and its N-terminal fragment stimulate CTL expansion and maturation of human monocyte-derived dendritic cells (MDDC). It plays a central role in both innate and acquired immunity, including dendritic cell maturation and chemotaxis, antibody production, and cross-priming. GRP94 is a potential marker in breast cancer and functions as a peptide acceptor in the endoplasmic reticulum, assisting in MHC class I peptide loading. Expression of GRP94 suppresses A23187-induced apoptosis and stabilizes calcium homeostasis. It is expressed in melanoma, liver metastases of colon carcinoma, and human gastric carcinoma BGC-823 cells.
