Product Specific Information
- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
- For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
- Centrifuge if solution is not clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid; dilute only before immediate use.
- Anti-Fibrinogen antibody is purified IgG fraction from monospecific antiserum via delipidation, salt fractionation, ion exchange chromatography, and dialysis.
- Shows a single precipitin arc in immunoelectrophoresis against anti-Biotin, anti-Goat Serum, and purified/partially purified Fibrinogen [Human Plasma].
- Cross-reactivity with fibrinogen from other species is unknown.
Target Information
Fibrinogen is the precursor of fibrin, a coagulable protein in vertebrate blood plasma. Upon vascular injury, thrombin cleaves fibrinogen to form fibrin, the major component of blood clots.
Fibrinogen is a dimer composed of three pairs of non-identical chains (FGA, FGB, FGG) cross-linked by disulfide bonds. It includes two terminal D domains and one central E domain, which are separated upon degradation by plasmin.
Mutations in fibrinogen genes are associated with disorders such as dysfibrinogenemia, afibrinogenemia, and renal amyloidosis.
