Target Information
FAM49B negatively regulates RAC1 signaling and RAC1-driven cytoskeletal remodeling. It regulates chemotaxis, cell migration, and epithelial polarization by controlling polarity and protrusion extent. Limits Rac1-mediated activation of the Scar/WAVE complex and restricts bacterial infections (Salmonella, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Listeria monocytogenes). Also involved in mitochondrial dynamics and oxidative stress. [UniProt]
