Essential for elastic fiber formation, involved in assembly of continuous elastin (ELN) polymer and promotes interaction of microfibrils and ELN. Stabilizes and organizes elastic fibers in skin, lung, and vasculature. Promotes adhesion of endothelial cells via integrin interaction and RGD motif. Acts as a vascular ligand for integrin receptors, potentially involved in vascular development and remodeling.
