Target Information
The SPG3A/Atlastin protein is a GTPase and a Golgi body transmembrane protein. It can form a homotetramer and interacts with spastin and mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase kinase 4 (MAP4K4). This protein is implicated in axonal maintenance, and mutations in this gene are associated with spastic paraplegia type 3. Three transcript variants encoding two isoforms have been identified.
