Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and expressed, and the best clones are selected for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- High specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulation
- Broad immunoreactivity due to large rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody is specific for Mouse LDLR.
Target Information
The low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) gene family encodes cell surface proteins involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis of specific ligands. LDL binds to the receptor at the cell membrane and is internalized, leading to degradation in lysosomes and release of cholesterol. This process regulates cholesterol synthesis by repressing HMG-CoA reductase and stimulating cholesterol ester synthesis.
Mutations in the LDLR gene cause familial hypercholesterolemia, an autosomal dominant disorder. LDLR, along with SCARB1, CLDN1, and CD81, has been identified as an entry factor for the Hepatitis C virus. At least three isoforms of LDLR are known.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
