Target Information

This gene encodes one of seven subunits of the human Arp2/3 protein complex. The subunit belongs to the SOP2 family and is most similar to ARPC1A. Both may function as p41 subunits of the human Arp2/3 complex, involved in actin polymerization control. The p41 subunit may help assemble and maintain the Arp2/3 complex structure. Multiple versions of this subunit may adapt complex functions to different cell types or developmental stages. It also plays a role in centrosomal homeostasis as an activator and substrate of Aurora A kinase.
