Product Specific Information

The monoclonal antibody STRSN recognizes human heat shock protein 27 (HSP27). Heat shock proteins are induced in response to stressors such as temperature changes, cytokine levels, and various chemicals. They act as molecular chaperones, maintaining protein structure and preventing apoptosis by inhibiting caspase activation.

HSP27 is involved in apoptosis regulation and relocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus upon stress. Elevated HSP27 levels are associated with aggressive tumors and reduced survival in breast cancer and melanoma. Increased serum HSP27 may serve as a diagnostic marker in COPD, breast cancer, and melanoma. No cross-reactivity observed with HSP70, HSP90, HSP104, or HSP110.

Applications Reported:
Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (FFPE tissue), ELISA, and immunocytochemistry.

Applications Tested:
Validated on reduced HeLa lysate (WB), fixed A549 cells (ICC), and FFPE human tissue (IHC) at ≤1 µg/mL. Optimal titration recommended.


Target Information

HSPB1 (HSP27) is a small heat shock protein functioning as a molecular chaperone that maintains denatured proteins in a folding-competent state. It contributes to stress resistance and actin organization, regulating phosphorylation and axonal transport of neurofilament proteins. Mutations in HSPB1 may cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease 2F and distal hereditary motor neuronopathy 2B.
