Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional round of desalting (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Lens proteins consist almost entirely of crystallins (about 95%), which are also found in vertebrate skeletal muscle tissue.
In the lens, crystallins maintain the proper refractive index. Mammalian lenses contain three major classes of crystallins: alpha, beta, and gamma.
Alpha-crystallin is composed of two primary gene products, alpha-A and alpha-B, and constitutes about 40% of total lens proteins.
It functions as a molecular chaperone, preventing aggregation that could lead to cataract formation.
Phosphorylation of alpha-crystallin may occur in response to cellular stress, contributing to protein maintenance.
Alpha-B crystallin has been associated with Alexander’s disease, where it accumulates in brain cells.
