Target Information
SNAP29 encodes a protein that is a member of the SNAP25 gene family and is involved in multiple membrane trafficking steps. SNAP23 and SNAP25 bind syntaxin proteins to mediate synaptic vesicle docking and fusion with the plasma membrane. SNAP29 binds tightly to multiple syntaxins and localizes to intracellular membrane structures, though a fraction remains free in the cytoplasm. Multiple polyadenylation sites are noted for this gene.
