Target Information

In humans, the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) family of transmembrane transporters consists of at least 48 genes and 7 subfamilies. The ABCA13 gene belongs to the ABCA subfamily, typically encoding large proteins with multiple transmembrane alpha-helices forming a central chamber with substrate binding sites.
These proteins generally possess two large extracellular domains and two nucleotide-binding domains. Alternative splice variants have been reported, but their biological significance remains undetermined.
