Target Information

Collagen III is a fibrillar collagen found in extensible connective tissues such as skin, lung, and the vascular system, often associated with type I collagen. Mutations in this gene are linked to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type IV and aortic or arterial aneurysms. Although alternate transcripts have been detected, they result from mutations that alter splicing and may lead to the exclusion of multiple exons.
