Target Information

Collagen IV is a major structural protein of the basement membrane found in tissues such as the kidneys, lungs, and skin. It forms a network-like scaffold that provides mechanical support and stability. Collagen IV consists of three alpha chains encoded by the COL4A1, COL4A2, and COL4A3 genes. Mutations in these genes are associated with disorders such as Alport syndrome and Goodpasture syndrome, which primarily affect the kidneys and lungs.
