Product Specific Information

  • Reconstitute in 150 µL of sterile water.
  • Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
  • The antigen is homologous in many species including human, rat, zebrafish, and xenopus.
  • Specificity: NPY (Neuropeptide Y).

Target Information

Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a neuropeptide widely expressed in the central nervous system. It influences cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function. NPY acts through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate MAP kinase, regulate intracellular calcium, and activate potassium channels.
A polymorphism causing a leucine-to-proline substitution at position 7 in the signal peptide is linked to elevated cholesterol levels, higher alcohol consumption, and may increase risk for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases.
