Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene shows strong similarity to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc45, an essential protein required for initiation of DNA replication. Cdc45 is part of a highly conserved multiprotein complex including Cdc6/Cdc18, MCMs, and DNA polymerase, crucial for early DNA replication steps in eukaryotes. It interacts with MCM7 and DNA polymerase alpha, and studies in Xenopus indicate its role in loading DNA polymerase alpha onto chromatin. Multiple polyadenylation sites have been reported for this gene.
