Target Information

CD26 (Dipeptidyl Peptidase IV, DPP IV; Adenosine Deaminase binding protein) is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family.
It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, as well as on activated B cells, NK cells, and epithelial cells.

CD26 participates in various biological processes including:

• T-cell activation
• Cell adhesion to extracellular matrix (e.g., fibronectin, collagens)
• HIV infection mechanisms

CD26 is identical to adenosine deaminase complexing protein-2 and the T-cell activation antigen CD26. It functions as a membrane glycoprotein and serine exopeptidase that cleaves X-proline dipeptides from the N-terminus of polypeptides.
Alterations in CD26 activity are associated with malignant transformation, with activity increasing alongside tumor grade and severity. It is expressed in multiple blood cell types and fibroblast-related cells.
Changes in CD26 density have been reported in circulating monocytes and CD4⁺ T cells during rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
