Anti-Avidin Antibody Biotin Conjugated is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-biotin, anti-Rabbit Serum, and purified Avidin (Hen Egg White).

Target Information

Avidin from chicken egg whites is a glycoprotein that binds biotin with high affinity.
It consists of four identical subunits with a combined molecular mass of 67,000–68,000 Da, each binding one molecule of biotin.
Avidin has an isoelectric point of 10–10.5, is highly soluble, and remains stable across a wide pH and temperature range.
Due to its robustness, avidin is widely used in immunodetection and protein purification methods.
Conjugates of Avidin with alkaline phosphatase (AP) or horseradish peroxidase (HRP) are useful for Western blotting and ELISA detection.
