Target Information
STRAP is a 350 amino acid MAP activator with WD-40 repeats localized in both cytoplasm and nucleus. It ubiquitously inhibits TGF-beta signaling and regulates cell proliferation. Stable expression activates MAPK/ERK pathway and downregulates p21 (Cip1), leading to retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation. Upregulation of STRAP may contribute to early colorectal tumorigenesis. It also associates with the SMN complex in U snRNP assembly, crucial for intracellular SMN1 distribution.
